We are sure you've all heard our sad news by now; that UK Americana Music Week 2022 is cancelled. We are so thankful and humbled by the response from our Americana community, thank you all so much for the heartfelt messages. Keep an eye on our socials for updates regarding upcoming virtual events, and put those 2023 dates in the diary. Here's part of our official statement from our CEO, Stevie Smith, below

"On behalf of the AMA UK board I am bringing you news today that breaks my heart - regretfully due to the recent developments with the Omicron variant worldwide, our international partners have had to pull out of being at our event and this has had a knock on effect that makes the event unviable. That along with hospital cases rising at rapid rates, the pandemic seems to still be far from at its peak here in the UK. The board have decided that in the absence of Government guidance we have to make this difficult decision ourselves and that the only safe and sensible thing to do at this late stage is to cancel UK Americana Music Week for 2022.
This has been an incredibly difficult decision to make because as you know keeping the genre vibrant and giving you all a platform to showcase your music is our highest priority, but this is now out of our hands and we have no real choice but to take this path. Our 2023 dates are confirmed for January 23rd-26th so mark that in PEN in your diaries now. If it is possible for you to roll over your tickets this will help us enormously, but of course if that isn’t possible for you then a refund will be issued."

All ticket holders have been emailed with instructions on how to roll over their tickets or how to request a refund

    Thank you

Stevie Smith & The AMA-UK board

Nominations open on Friday 1st October 2021 and close on Friday 15th October 2021 (midnight BST).

Nominations are open to AMA-UK members only. Please do not share this link with anyone else, either privately or publicly. All members will be individually emailed these details.

The eligibility period for each award is 1st October 2020 to 30th September 2021. Please check the official UK release dates of your nominated songs or albums.

Need help remembering some of the great records from the past year? You could start by taking a look at our charts page, but don't forget that not all eligible releases appear in the chart.

    SUBMITTING NOMINATIONS:

You must be a Member. If you are not yet a member, please join now https://theamauk.org/Benefits-of-Membership

You must be logged in to the Members area of the website

Each member can send up to three nominations per award category.

Artist members are allowed to nominate themselves if they so wish.

You can nominate the same artist for different awards.

You can nominate artists who are not themselves members of the AMA-UK.

As everyone knows from ever-ongoing discussions, the definition of Americana as a genre can be highly subjective: if you think an artist, album or song is Americana, then just go ahead and nominate them.

Once you have submitted your nominations, you will not be able to change them.

Once the nomination period has ended no further nominations will be accepted.

Once the nomination period has closed, all nominations will be collated and presented to the AMA-UK board, who will draw up a shortlist for each award.

The final shortlist will be announced at our Press launch which will be in London in November 2020 - details to follow.

Once the shortlist has been published, the voting process will begin - details on how-to-vote will be made available at that time.

Our opening night will feature UK-based Australian singer-songwriter Emily Barker who will perform in Cottiers Theatre in the West End. Kicking off the night and declaring GA officially open up will be Scottish singer-songwriter, Kirsten Adamson.

Thursday 30th September sees a choice of shows from local favourite and hugely talented Jill Jackson, who will play a headline show in Saint Lukes

We are so happy to see Nathan Bell making the trip to Glasgow in these troubled times for his Thursday show in The Admiral. Nathan has been steadily building an audience in Glasgow since his debut here at Celtic Connections 2017.

The husband and wife duo of Michael Weston King and Lou Dalgleish play The CCA at 8pm.

Festival director Kevin Morris said: “I am so proud of this line up, which was put together at short notice and glad to be given the opportunity for the 15th Glasgow Americana festival to actually happen. The fact that a festival like Glasgow Americana can still exist, in what has been such a strange time for musicians, venues and promoters alike makes me happy. I would also like to thank Creative Scotland for their continued support in allowing the festival to go ahead.”
